Long Hair -
Most women know how to care for long hair because there's a good chance that their hair is long or has been long at least a few times in their lifetime. But what about the guys? The majority of men have short hair, so most guys don't have a clue as to how they should care for their long hair. In this article, I will offer some tips for guys with long hair. And yes, I'm a guy with long hair.
Cosmetics That You Should Use -
First of all, there's shampoo. You don't need to buy the super expensive specialized shampoo, just buy the cheap store brand. In the past I used Head & Shoulders, and I was paying about seven pounds for a bottle of it. Now that I use the store brand shampoo, I am only spending about three pounds per bottle.
The store brand shampoo saves quite a bit of money, and it works just as well as the more expensive shampoos. As for how frequently you should use your shampoo, that's up to you. Some people say that you should only wash your hair two or three times a week. However, if you have oily hair like me, you may need to use shampoo every day.
You may also want to invest in a decent conditioner. Again, you don't need to buy the more expensive conditioners. Just buy one of the cheaper brands such as Tresemme or something similar. You'll use the conditioner after you've rinsed the shampoo out of your hair. Then put about a half pound's worth of conditioner in your hand, and gently massage it into your hair.
After about a minute or two, you can rinse the conditioner out. The purpose of the conditioner is to make your hair appear healthier, and it makes it easier for your comb to glide through your hair. In other words, you don't have to worry about tangles.
If it's a really windy day, then you may want to invest in an inexpensive hair spray. Try not to use too much hairspray because eventually you will probably want to run a comb through your hair. Combing your hair can be quite a challenge if you use too much hairspray. So don't overdue it.
Putting Your Hair Into A Pony Tail -
While you may like having long hair, complications may arise from time to time. One of these complications is when you're eating food. You don't want to get food in your hair or vice versa. So what's the solution, other then cutting your hair short again? It's simple. Just put your hair in a pony tail. You can buy some simple hair bands from most stores for a pound or two.
Using the hair bands may be a bit frustrating at first, but you'll get the hang of it with time. It's like learning to tie your shoes; once you've done it, you never forget how. Try not to tighten the hair band too much because this may strip the hair from your scalp. I doubt you want your hair to look thin.
Combing Or Brushing Your Hair -
Should you use a comb or a brush? In my experience, I've found that a comb is much better than a brush. As for the type of comb you should purchase, a simple ninety nine cent comb from a local grocer or discount store will do. If you have thick hair, make sure that the comb you are using has wide set bristles because bristles that are not far enough apart may strip your hair with time. As for fine or thin hair, you will need to use a comb that has close set bristles if you want to create the illusion of fuller hair.
Don't Comb Your Hair When It's Wet -
Combing your hair when it's wet can cause your hair to fall out more. This doesn't mean you are going bald, it's just what happens when you try to comb wet hair. Especially, long wet hair. The hair will grow back with time, but it may start to look strange or unhealthy. So either let your hair dry out before you comb it, or use a hair dryer.
As you can see, having long hair can be complicated at times. But once you have learned how to take care of your hair, you will find that it's not so difficult after all. Just follow these basic tips, and you should be fine.
